Bitcoin Blake2B
BTCB2 mining calculator

This is a free BTCB2 mining calculator: a Bitcoin Blake2B mining profit calculator that turns your Blake2b-Sia hashrate, power draw and electricity rate into daily, monthly and yearly BTCB2 income, cost and profit at the live network hashrate and price. BTCB2 is a young chain whose hashrate is still settling, so re-check the figures before you commit hardware.

* Your setup in context

BTCB2 mining calculator What your Blake2b-Sia hashrate means on the BTCB2 network

The three cards below read your own hashrate, power and electricity rate and set them against the live BTCB2 network. Change an input at the top of the page and they follow.

Your share of the network
0.057487%

Your hashrate divided by the whole network. Every block reward is split in this proportion, which is exactly what the daily coins figure in the table is.

Expected time to find a block solo
10.1 days

The average wait if you mined alone and kept the full block reward. This is why almost everyone mines in a pool: the pool pays your share every day instead.

Break-even coin price for this setup
$21.13
Live price is above break-even by 97.6%

Daily electricity cost divided by daily coins mined: the price at which this exact rig earns zero. Below it you are paying to mine; above it the difference is your margin.

* A Bitcoin fork on Sia hardware

What is BTCB2, and what are you actually securing?

BTCB2, short for Bitcoin Blake2B and listed as XBT by some pools and exchanges, is a fork of Bitcoin. It keeps the Bitcoin ledger and the Bitcoin block reward, but it replaced SHA-256 with the Blake2b-Sia proof of work.

Blake2b-Sia is the hash that Siacoin ASIC miners were built for. That is why machines made for Siacoin can mine BTCB2 with no hardware change, and why a Bitcoin SHA-256 miner such as an Antminer S21 cannot mine it at all.

The switch pulled hashrate from idle Sia machines and from hashrate rental markets such as MiningRigRentals. Hashrate that arrives and leaves quickly makes difficulty move quickly too, so the profit row on this page is a snapshot of today, not a forecast.

The coin itself trades on a few small exchanges with thin liquidity. The price can move sharply, and a large sell order can move it further, which is why this page shows a break-even price and a stress test instead of a promise.

Plain Blake2b and Blake2b-Sia are different algorithms. A machine sold for plain Blake2b does not mine BTCB2, so look for Blake2b-Sia, the Siacoin hash.

Break-even electricity

BTCB2 mining profitability calculator The most you could pay per kilowatt-hour and still break even

$3.317/kWh
You entered $0.080/kWh
Your rate

Daily income divided by the kilowatt-hours this setup burns in a day. If your marker sits inside the coloured bar you are in profit at today's price and difficulty; the further left it sits, the more room you have when difficulty rises or the price falls.

* Choosing a machine

Which ASIC should you run on BTCB2?

Every Blake2b-Sia machine can point at BTCB2, so the choice is not about compatibility, it is about efficiency. Divide the hashrate by the power draw: the machine that makes the most hash per watt keeps the most income after electricity.

The ten machines we track run from the small Goldshell SC-BOX to the iBeLink BM-S3 Plus. On cheap electricity an older, hungrier model can still pay; on an expensive tariff only the efficient ones stay above break-even, and the bar above shows where yours sits.

Our Blake2b-Sia page ranks all ten at your own electricity rate and counts whichever of BTCB2 and Siacoin pays more, so you do not have to rebuild that comparison by hand.

* Two coins, one machine

BTCB2 vs Siacoin mining on the same ASIC

The same Blake2b-Sia machine can earn in three different ways. Which one pays most changes with the market and with your electricity rate.

Mine BTCB2

You earn BTCB2 blocks at the live network difficulty. The upside is a young chain with fast-changing hashrate; the downside is a coin with a thin market that you may not be able to sell in size.

Mine Siacoin

You earn SC on an older network with deeper exchange liquidity. The income is typically steadier, and our miner pages already compare it with BTCB2 for you.

Rent your hashrate out

On MiningRigRentals you list the machine and a renter pays you a rental price, so the coin risk moves to the renter. Our miner pages show this as a separate row after the marketplace fee and never add it to the headline profit.

So the useful question is not whether BTCB2 is profitable in general, but which of the three pays most for your machine at your tariff today. This page answers the first, the Siacoin page the second, and the miner pages show the rental row.

* Stress test

What a rising BTCB2 difficulty does to this result

BTCB2 is young and its hashrate is still finding its level, so difficulty can step up fast when idle or rented machines arrive. The table applies a few plausible increases to today's figure.

DifficultyBTCB2 / dayIncome per dayProfit per day
Today 0.308964 $270.65 $264.12
+5% 0.294252 $257.76 $251.24
+10% 0.280877 $246.05 $239.52
+20% 0.257470 $225.54 $219.02
+35% 0.228862 $200.48 $193.96
+50% 0.205976 $180.44 $173.91
Price and your electricity rate are held at today's values; only the network share changes. A price move of the same size has the same effect on income.
* Risks

The risks of mining a young, thinly traded coin

Liquidity

A block reward is worth what an exchange pays for it. On a few small venues, a month of rewards can be more than the order book absorbs.

Price

The price is the biggest unknown in every figure here. The break-even price card near the top shows how far it can fall before the machine earns less than its electricity.

Difficulty

Difficulty follows hashrate a step behind it. A wave of rented or returning machines lowers every rig's share, and the stress test above shows how much.

Chain security

A small chain on an algorithm with a rental market is easier to attack with rented hashrate than an established one. Expect exchanges and pools to ask for many confirmations before rewards can be spent.

Young infrastructure

Wallets, explorers and pools are new. Use a fresh address made for this chain, and confirm the address format with your pool before you point hardware at it.

Hardware price

Machines sold at a hype premium need the coin to hold its price for months just to repay themselves. Compare the machine price with the profit row before you buy.

* Step by step

How to mine BTCB2

Four steps from a Sia ASIC to a profit figure you can check.

1

Get a Blake2b-Sia miner

Use a machine built for Siacoin, such as an iBeLink BM-S3 Plus or a Goldshell SC model. Bitcoin SHA-256 miners and plain Blake2b machines do not work.

2

Choose a pool that lists BTCB2

Point the miner at a pool that supports BTCB2, which some pools label XBT, and follow that pool's own setup page for the address, port and worker name. Compare pools on our pool list.

3

Set a BTCB2 payout address

Create an address with a wallet that supports the BTCB2 chain, use a fresh one, and check with the pool that it expects that format before you start.

4

Check the profit

Enter your machine's hashrate and power and your electricity rate into the calculator at the top of this page, and look again as price and difficulty change.

About BTCB2 mining and this calculator

Bitcoin Blake2B (BTCB2) is a fork of Bitcoin that keeps the Bitcoin ledger and block reward, but replaces SHA-256 with Blake2b-Sia as its Proof of Work algorithm. That is the hash used by Sia ASIC miners, so machines built for Siacoin that were sitting idle can point at BTCB2 without any hardware change, which is why the chain attracted hashrate from Sia miners and from hashrate rental markets. The daily income of a machine depends on the network hashrate it competes with and on the BTCB2 price, which trades on a few small exchanges with thin liquidity and can move sharply. Different exchanges and mining pools have used different tickers for the coin, among them BTCB2 and XBT. MinerCompare lists it next to Siacoin because both coins are mined by the same Blake2b-Sia machines, and the algorithm pages and miner pages use whichever of the two pays more.

BTCB2 mining calculator, answered

BTCB2, short for Bitcoin Blake2B, is a fork of Bitcoin that keeps the Bitcoin ledger and block reward but uses the Blake2b-Sia proof of work instead of SHA-256. Some pools and exchanges list it as XBT.

No. It shares Bitcoin's history up to the split and then continues as a separate chain with its own rules, proof of work, price and market. Bitcoin miners cannot mine BTCB2.

Blake2b-Sia, the hash that Siacoin ASIC miners use. It is not Bitcoin's SHA-256, and it is not the plain Blake2b that other coins use.

Yes. Machines built for Siacoin mine BTCB2 on the same hash, so you only point them at a pool that lists BTCB2. No hardware change is needed.

Mining software exists and at least one pool offers GPU and CPU connections, but an ASIC computes this hash far faster per watt, so a graphics card or processor earns a negligible share. Treat it as a way to test a setup, not as income.

Get a Blake2b-Sia ASIC, point it at a pool that supports BTCB2 by following that pool's setup page, set a BTCB2 payout address, and check the profit with the calculator above. The four steps are in the How to mine BTCB2 section.

It depends on your hashrate, power draw and electricity rate, and on the BTCB2 price and difficulty, all of which this calculator reads live. The profit row answers it for your setup today, and the break-even cards show how far price or electricity can move before it turns negative.

The one with the most hashrate per watt that fits your budget, because electricity is the main running cost. Our Blake2b-Sia page ranks the ten machines we track at your electricity rate, using whichever of BTCB2 and Siacoin pays more.

Whichever pays more at your electricity rate on the day you check. BTCB2 is younger and its price and difficulty move faster; Siacoin is the older market with deeper liquidity. Our miner pages compare both, so you can switch when the order changes.

Yes. Marketplaces such as MiningRigRentals let you list a Sia ASIC and a renter pays you a rental price, so the coin risk moves to the renter. Our miner pages show it as a separate MiningRigRentals row after the fee, never as part of the headline profit.

XBT is the ticker some pools and exchanges use for this coin, while others use BTCB2. XBT is also a common ticker for Bitcoin itself, so check that the algorithm is Blake2b-Sia before you point a miner at it.

The coin trades on a few small exchanges with thin liquidity, so a handful of orders can move the price. Prices on different venues can also differ, so check the market you plan to sell on before you rely on any figure.
