Generative art is a form of creative practice in which an artist designs a set of rules, a program or a system, and then lets that system produce visual or interactive outcomes that the artist often cannot predict exactly, and the result is art that lives at the intersection of algorithm and intuition. The artist writes parameters and constraints. The system uses those rules together with randomness or seeded inputs to generate unique instances. Generative art ranges from small rule‑based patterns to complex systems that simulate natural growth, fluid dynamics, or emergent behaviors familiar from mathematics and ecology.
